We’re looking for a director of creative and design to join our growing team. You’ll apply your creativity and design expertise to startups and tech companies across various sectors, including Martech, Edtech, Fintech, Retailtech, eCommerce, digital marketplaces, and emerging technologies like drones and Web 3.0.

The talent in this dynamic position develops work that is highly visible, creating, in some cases, a company’s first real brand presence. This role lets you fly creatively; nothing is off the table. You’ll identify, develop and sell through creative concepts at an executive level that tell powerful stories, create deep connections, and drive meaningful results for genuinely interesting and up-and-coming brands. You’ll also lead and foster collaboration to develop ground-breaking ideas and content executions across multiple touchpoints and partners from concept development and sell-in to production and delivery.

The successful candidate has a combination of deep design experience, a strong point of view and the ability to organize campaigns from conception to delivery, including for SMG. We want to evolve B2B marketing, find more creative ways into the conversation and, yes, be recognized for our work. The Director of Creative and Design reports to the Senior Vice President of Brand, Creative and Content and works closely with other SMG teammates and contractors.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the creative process, from concept to completion (including design) of projects for clients along with the SMG brand. This may include brand books, design overhauls and any design-centric elements.
  • Creating effective processes, systems and briefing materials to get the most out of client requests.
  • Developing and creating SMG sales and communications materials including one-sheeters, decks, marketing and anything related to the agency’s operations.
  • Collaborating with the VP of Business Development on building effective proposals and creative pitch strategies.
  • Facilitating creative sessions with clients to develop campaigns.
  • Project management for creative-centric projects, including budgeting and costs.
  • Creating processes and systems to effectively manage creative and design output.
  • Managing vendors, production companies and freelancers for any creative and/or design projects.
  • Developing a diverse list of freelancers, production companies and other vendors.
  • Collaborating with SVP of Brand, Creative and Content to develop long-term goals and approaches to successfully position clients and SMG brand.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience: At least eight (8) years of experience as design or creative leader, especially in a digital environment. Agency experience, especially working on brand campaigns, is a plus.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the tech/SaaS and/or marketing space is preferred but we’re more interested in your passion for the transformative impact of technology on businesses and people.
  • Technical Expertise: Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite and other creativity tools.
  • Cross-Functional Experience: A proven track record of flexibility, working across departments. Experience in digital marketing, growth marketing, product marketing, and communications is a plus.
  • Collaboration: You excel in a remote environment and can successfully collaborate with other senior professionals and external contractors.
  • Initiative: You understand the startup/entrepreneurial mindset and can operate with speed and agility while still prioritizing quality results.
  • Excellence: You set the bar high and put your best work in front of team members and clients.
  • Communication: Excellent written, visual, verbal and presentation skills. You can deliver thoughts and direction clearly and concisely.
