We’re looking for a Vice President, Executive Communications & PR to join our growing team as a senior executive to build an Executive Communications and PR center of excellence for SMG in the market. We want you to take your expertise and deep industry relationships to help our Adtech, Martech, Edtech, Fintech, Retailtech, DTC, Gaming, SaaS and eCommerce executives and clients to best position them in their relevant markets.

The VP of Communications and Executive Visibility reports to the Managing Director and works closely with other SMG teammates and contractors. This is a highly-visible, client-facing remote position that is remote and is open to anyone able to work from the United States.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Core Objectives
    • Build out and manage SalientMG’s Executive Communications & PR center of excellence.
    • Serve as SMG evangelist for Executive Communications & PR across the industry.
    • Be the strategic lead for clients. Bring big thinking and ensure innovative and creative ideas are a part of each clients’ strategy. Provide senior counsel for tactical implementation of client strategies and wins.
    • Lead the hiring, development, and retention of top-tier talent in partnership with Vice President, Marketing and SVP, Brand, Content and Creative.
  • Strategic Client Lead (50% of your time)
    • Establish and cultivate strong relationships with client’s c-suite and executive team to ensure SMG’s programs are aligned with their business objectives.
    • Act as senior Executive Visibility/Media Relations resource for client meetings and brainstorming/responding to new business requests.
    • Collaborate with the Executive Thought Leadership team lead on upsell/cross-sell opportunities with clients.
    • Work with SMG stakeholders to evolve and grow the Executive Thought Leadership platform and offering.
    • Establish relevant executive visibility monthly goals and tailored plans for all clients.
    • Develop compelling stories and pitches for our executive clients.
    • Ensure PR team secures monthly tier-one media, speaking, and/or award opportunities for all clients.
  • In-Market (25% of your time)
    • Industry Evangelist
      • Establish and tap into your existing industry relationships with media outlets, conferences, etc. to maximize visibility opportunities for SMG’s clients.
      • As the market-facing lead, you are responsible for leveraging promotional opportunities as well as proactively evangelizing SMG’s Executive Communications & PR center of excellence.
    • Partner Development
      • Develop and cultivate a “rolodex” of key reporter and conference contacts across tier-one business outlets (including broadcast producers/reporters), trade publications, and podcasts.
  • Department Management (15% of your time)
    • Build out and manage the entire Executive Communications & Visibility center of excellence within SalientMG, in partnership with the Managing Director and other stakeholders, including: internal team, external freelancers & contractors, client proposal development, upsells and cross-sell opportunities.
    • Talent Management
      • Manage the Executive Communications & PR team.
      • Conduct weekly 1-1s, quarterly MBOs, reviews, etc.
      • Develop and maintain a strong bench of freelancers and contractor.
  • Solution Refinement (10% of your time)
    • Collaborate with the Managing Director and other team leads, including the Executive Thought Leadership team lead, to refine and/or develop best-in class Executive Communications & PR solutions (for both existing solutions and future programs).
    • Work with other SMG stakeholders to evolve and grow Executive Thought Leadership offering.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 10+ years of demonstrated Executive Communications/PR and media relations experience or some combination thereof. A successful candidate must have experience in B2B and tech/SaaS companies, worked closely with c-suite executives, and managed a team of both full-time employees and external contractors. Experience in-house/client side is also highly preferred; experience with media training not required, but a plus.
  • Connections: An established “rolodex” of key reporter and conference contacts across tier-one business outlets (including broadcast producers/reporters), trade publications, podcasts, with a proven record of developing new reporter and conference relationships.
  • Cross-functional marketing experience: proven track record of working with specialists across thought leadership, growth marketing, and product marketing is highly preferred.
